Our vision for Nova Scotia is one where more of the workforce is protected from workplace injury than they are today. Our Protect More Strategic Plan 2024-2030 and yearly operational plans provide the path for getting there.

We're different now. 2025 was a year of big changes - and our annual report highlights the improvements we're making that are redefining how we support the Nova Scotians who count on us. Safer workplaces, better service, and more people returning safely to work after an injury.
Highlights:
• Lowest injury rate ever
• More people back to work
• Strongest financial position yet
WCB is planning to cut employer rates in 2027 — the first rate reduction in a generation.
In balance with improved benefits for workers, WCB rates will be reduced by 15 per cent to an average of $2.25 per $100 of assessable payroll. This change will put $75 million back into the economy.
The rate reduction is a result of careful financial stewardship, a record-low workplace injury rate that has been steadily declining for 20 years, and more people staying connected to work after an injury.

With stronger expectations in place, our focus is on acting earlier, working together across the system, and delivering better outcomes for workers and employers across Nova Scotia.

In 2024, the Workers’ Compensation Review Committee released the first review of its kind in two decades. It was a turning point—and a clear call to act.

We’ve got an ambitious and inspiring plan to protect more Nova Scotians against more kinds of workplace injury, to protect more workers, earlier and better, and to protect employers. It’s a detailed plan, built around 9 goals:
